To build a global community where people can live, learn, and contribute through authentic work-for-accommodation experiences.
Our story
Far From was born from a simple observation: traditional work-for-accommodation platforms weren't meeting the needs of skilled travellers seeking quality experiences and hosts wanting skilled help.
Our founder, noticed when travelling herself, that there was a gap in the market for professionals over 30 who wanted to travel meaningfully without sacrificing comfort or privacy. Work-For-Accommodation isn’t just for the youngsters, and we want to change the narrative and build inspiration to find meaningful exchanges and redefine how we travel and take time out.
“While travelling, my husband Nick and I came across some incredible opportunities, but many of the places that really suited us (in terms of comfort and privacy) weren’t on the main platforms. We often had to rely on word of mouth or reach out directly to find hosts who appreciated the kind of help we could offer. We’ve both picked up a wide range of practical skills over the years; from DIY and renovation to working in different jobs and environments, and we found we got the most out of placements where that experience was valued. It made a real difference when the accommodation reflected a fair exchange and we could contribute in ways that felt meaningful.”
